A mystical region and culture famous for its ferocious tribe, Nagaland experiential trip is meant for explorers, travelers as well as nature lovers. So much to experience in its diverse culture, cuisine, tribe and their usual way of life.

Itinerary

Day 1: Dibrugarh
Pickup from Dibrugarh airport and drive to your hotel. In the evening you can go for a walk on the banks of the Brahmaputra river. Overnight at Hotel Tea County / Dibrugarh Clubhouse

Day 2: Dibrugarh to Mon (121 kms; 6 hours)
After breakfast drive to Mon, in Northern Nagaland. Mon is the capital of the Konyak tribes who were feared headhunters and culturally the most interesting Naga tribe. Even today you can see many elders with tattoos on their face and chest, indicating their bravery as head hunters.

The road condition is not very good but is quite scenic as it passes through verdant hills.

Check into your hotel and relax for the remainder of the day. Overnight at Vinngoi Resort

Day 3: Mon
Today you will visit Longwa village which borders with Burma. Over here you will meet with the Angh (a local king), whose house spreads over the Internation border. Visit the Angh’s house where one can see massive wood carvings, along with animal heads. Walk through the village to interact with the local villagers. By evening drive back to Mon, if time permits visit Chui village where there is a small museum, showcasing the olden way of life of the Konyaks. Overnight at Vinngoi Resort

Day 4: Mon to Mokukchung (223 kms; 9 hours)
After breakfast commence your long drive to Mokukchung, via Assam. Mokukchung is the headquarters of the Ao Naga. Overnight at Hotel Whispering Winds or similar

Day 5: Mokukchung
In the first half of the day visit the village of Mopungchuket considered the cleanest village in all of Nagaland. Meandering thorough the flower laden paths we walk to the tower of ‘Eteben’ where you learn the story of the local Romeo and Juliet. Walk down a bit further to appreciate the brilliant wood carvings by a local artist.

In the second half of the day visit Ungma the largest village of the Ao Nagas. Walking the narrow streets and bylanes of this village gives us a brilliant opportunity to interact with the locals and observe the vibrant lifestyle of the Ao community. Overnight at Hotel Whispering Winds or similar

Day 6: Mokukchung to Tuophema (111 kms; 4 hours)
Today you drive to Tuophema, a picturesque village inhabited by the Angami tribe. After lunch walk around the village interacting with the locals and absorbing the village atmosphere. Overnight at Tuophema Tourist Lodge

Day 7: Tuophema to Kohima (37 kms; 1.5 hours)
On reaching the capital city of Nagaland, visit the State Museum (shut on Sundays and bank holidays) where you will get to learn about the culture of all the sixteen tribes. Thereafter visit the World War II cemetery, built to commemorate all those who lost their lives in the epic 1944 Battle of Kohima. In the evening visit the local fresh market, which will open your eyes to the crop diversity of the region. Overnight at Niraamaya Aradura Retreat

Day 8: Excursion to Khonoma (35 kms; 1 hour)
Drive to the picturesque village of Khonoma. This village is a stronghold of the Angami tribe. Over here you will experience the vibrant culture of the Angami tribe, known for its weaving skills and farming practices. The terraced fields surrounded by verdant forests are sure to steal your heart. It also holds the distinction of being the first green village in India, having banned hunting and logging in the village territory.

Walk around this beautiful village, to learn about the history and culture of the Angami tribe. Along the way interact with the locals and spend time with some master basket and shawl weavers, admiring their skillful work. Enjoy a traditional Angami meal in a village house after which you drive back to Kohima. Overnight at Niraamaya Aradura Retreat

Day 9: Kohima to Dimapur (84 kms; 3 hours)
After breakfast drop to Guwahati airport

• Transportation using dedicated Scorpio or similar for the duration of the trip , for 6 people and 8 people 2 vehicles will be provided
