Pin Parvati Pass trek is a moderate / difficult level trek in Himachal. It connects the Parvati Valley in Kullu to Pin Valley in Spiti.
This trek is located at an elevation of 5319-meter high which delights the seasoned trekkers.
The trek starts from a small village called Barsheni and the route goes through Rudranath followed by Kheerganga to Tunda Bhuj and Thakur Kuan at height of 13400 Ft. During the trek we will cross Pin Parvati Pass at 17500 ft. The route is laden with barren valleys of Himachal, attractive villages and high waterfalls.
Day 1
We start our journey from Kullu towards Barsheni with a drive post early breakfast. This will take about 5 hours. From Barsheni we will start our trek to Kalga village and then to Rudranath campsite. Rudranath campsite also has a waterfall and a Lord Shiva temple. Our night stay will be at this campsite.
Day 2
Today’s trek is a moderate level trek. We start from our camp site and trek towards Kheerganga which is a beautiful meadow. There is a hot water spring called Parvati Kund here. After settling down, a visit to the Parvati kund is a must. You can take a bath here. We will be spending our night here in camps.
Day 3
Wake up to an awesome view and start our trek for today to Tunda Bhuj after having breakfast. The trek today will take about 5-6 hours. We will cross a string of waterfalls on our way today. Today we gain a height of 10000+ ft. From the top we can see the beautiful Parvati valley as well.
We reach Tunda Bhuj and camp for the day. Overnight in Tents.
Day 4
We will trek for 5-6 hours today to reach Thakur Ganj. We will walk down to the Parvati River and cross it over to the other side with the help of Pulley Bridge. The trail today will start with a flat terrain followed by a steady ascent after we cross the Parvati River. Thakur Ganj is a beautiful flat meadow and will serve as our campsite for tonight.
Day 5
We will trek for about 8-10 hours today to reach Mantalai. We will take a short break and unwind at Odi Thach. Mantalai is elevated at 13, 440 ft. The route is muddy and over boulder strewn path. We will camp at lake side at Mantalai Lake. The view throughout the trek and at the lake side is picturesque and is amazing for photography enthusiasts.
Day 6
Today we will start early to reach Parvati Base Camp. It will take us about 12 hours to complete the trek. The trail becomes steep gradually over boulders and other moraines after starting with almost a flat terrain. The camp is at a height of 15, 100 ft with magnificent and breath-taking views.
The mighty Parvati South, Pyramid Peak are clearly visible from here.
Day 7
Our day today it the most exciting and a long one as well. Today we will be getting on to a height of 18,000 ft and cross over the Pass to reach Pin Base Camp site. The trek includes steep ascents.
Once we reach the Pin Parvati Pass, we can see the entire Pin valley beneath, the Kinner Kailash and Srikhand Mahadev past it and the famous Bara Shigri complex. On a clear day, can also locate the peaks of Bara Shigiri – Fluted peak, Kulu Makalu, Parbati and the Goat head peak, Rubalkhand and the peaks of Dibibokri.
After spending some time at the pass we trek to the other side reaching Pin Valley Base at 15,770 ft.
Day 8
We start our day at leisure. We will trek towards Wichkurung Thatch which is at 12, 600 ft. It is cattle grazing field. The location is beautiful surrounded by grassland, blooming with colorful flowers. We will be camping at this meadow.
Day 9
Today will be a mix of trek and drive. We will start our day with descending to Mudh. It is about 5 Kms from Wichkurung Thatch. Mudh is a national park where many animals like the Ibex, Blue sheep, rare Tibetan gazelle, Tibetan wolf, Snowy hare and the Woolly hare takes shelter.
From Mudh we drive to Kaza. Overnight in Hotel/Home Stay/Tents.
Day 10
We drive today from Kaza to Manali where our trip will end. It will take about 9-10 hours and we will cross one of the most famous passes on our way back, Kunzum pass.
