Ladakh, the land of high passes is the northernmost region in Indian subcontinent and is surrounded by some of the most beautiful snowcapped mountains.

One is spoilt for choices when it comes to plan the sightseeing schedule. From beautiful high-altitude lakes like Pangong Tso or Tso Moriri, Monasteries like Hemis, Thiksey, Alchi or Shey to Zanskar Valley, Markha Valley or Sham Valley, there are endless destinations to explore and countless treks to attempt. This itinerary will cover the sightseeing around Leh and a trip to Nubra Valley as well as Pangong Tso.

Treks like, Stok Kangri Trek, Markha Valley Trek, Sham Valley Trek, Chadar Trek or Kang Yatse II, are some amazing choices to explore if you are a trekker or mountaineering enthusiast.

Offbeat Ladakh

Itinerary

Day 1
Land in Leh.Leh is at a height of 11,500 ft above the sea level. Coming in from Delhi, Chandigarh, Srinagar or any other part of the country/world, it requires the traveller to acclimatize. The first day will be to rest and give body time to adjust to the elevation. You will be picked up at the airport and taken to your homestay/hotel.

Day 2
We will start post breakfast. Your vehicles will be there to pick you up from your hotel. We will drive to Thiksey Monastery, which is at a distance of 17 Kms from Leh city. It will take about 40 Minutes to reach Thiksey Monastery. After spending a couple of hours here, we will drive back to Shey Monastery and spend some time at the Shey Monastery. We will then stop on the way for lunch.

Post lunch, we will go to see the 3 Idiots School (Druk Padma School). This is school where the famous Bollywood movie, 3 Idiots was shot. It has a small eatery as well. Post our visit to the school, we will drive back to Leh City and see the Leh Palace. This is where the king used to live. The Archeological Survey of India (ASI) now manages it.

Drive back to Hotel.

Day 3
We will start early for Nubra Valley via the mighty Khardung La (18379 ft) which is the highest motorable road in the world. We will continue to drive after clicking some pictures at Khardung La. We reach Huner, Nubra Valley and check into our Homestay/Camp. Post lunch, we leave for the camel ride and the sand dunes.

Next day morning, we will start early and drive via Shyok River and village towards PangongTso.

Day 4
We will be covering a distance of 300 Kms today. It will take between 6-7 hours to get to PangongTso via Shyok Village. PangongTso is a 134 Km long and approximately 5 Km broad. 1/3rd of the lake is within the Indian boundaries. It is the most visited spot in all of Ladakh region. Spend some time at the lake and have lunch at the camp.

We will spend the night at the camps.

Day 5
We will start early (post breakfast) for Leh. We will make it to Leh around afternoon. Post lunch, we will drive to the confluence of Indus and Zanskar. After spending some time at the confluence, we will then visit the Gurudwara Pathar Sahib on our way back.

Day 6
Fly out of Leh
